Does anyone here know anything about them? Are they Halachically permitted?

    Please post some info.

if you take them before the time of the fast begins (which is what they were designed for, if you could take them during the fast they wouldnt need to be long-lasting), yes they are permitted.

some people say they work, i strongly tend towards doubting that.

They certainly work for the people selling them.

i saw this time-release prescription on the website of michel segal md:

“Fruit, despite its high fiber content, is worthwhile since it carries a lot of water in a “time-release” form.”

I have found that eating lots of grapes before a fast is very helpful. As the writer above wrote, it helps the body retain fluid.

I don’t see what the problem would be with timed release nutrition if taken before yom kippur. After all, when we eat seudah mafsekes, the food we eat takes several hours to digest. So what really is the difference?

grape juice works wonders. Drink a few cups throughout the day on Erev yom kippur.

Time-release capsules, caffiene suppasotories, what else will they think of??? I can say with certainty that none of the above are in the spirit of the vi-ee-nee-sem aspect of the day….The whole point is to be uncomfortable and be inspired to do true tshuvah!!

jO jO: you might have to ask a Sheilah

(L’aniyus Daati)depending how long does this releasing process takes.

If the releasing process takes much longer than any food would digest

    it might be a problem.

Because the whole Inyan of fasting on Yom Kippur

    is to become a Me’Uneh

    “Ve’inisem Es Nafshoseichem”

We must refrain from 5 things.

    5 Inuyim.

By taking this pill you are might be

taking away the standard Inuy that comes with

fasting after all the food is digested.

If people are saying you shouldn’t take a capsule because it takes away from “Ve’inisem”, then most of the sneakers worn today should have the same problem.

Many are much MORE comfortable than every day dress shoes.
