English translation with elucidation and footnotes:
do you think artscroll can ever make a gemara with rashi & tosafos explanations also in english? do you know how thick each volume would be? each perek gemara would need a volume itself & the design of the page would need to change.
I spoke to artscroll regarding that a few years ago. Rashi is essentially on the notes below. There is a translation project of Tosfos. But the Hebrew was not punctuated. Does it say which Tosfos?
Ri? Rash? Rosh? Rabbeinu Tam? Ritva? etc I’d like to know who I am reading…

I saw this in a shul last week. It is one volume on the first two perakim, about half of Maseches Makkos. Tosfos on half the masechta was a little bit bigger than the entire Maseches Makkos regular version. At that rate, expect 146 volumes for all of shas!!
- Just to note Iyun Hadaf basically translated all tosfos in shas. I didn’t check every daf,but I think they have done all of it.

I assume you mean read it in its original, untranslated form. I wish I could do that. Perhaps Artscroll should refocus their efforts and provide a series of self-study books that teach one how to do that.
