Mod 80: Because having your mind directly inside someone else’s is so much less intimate than normal conversation… /snark.

The first thing I would do would be an IP ban of every single account that has a sock puppet.

The second thing would be to post every single comment in the moderation queue regardless of whether I agree with it or not, even if it came from one of the previously deleted accounts.

I would ask for the key to the executive washroom and then order a newer, much faster computer so that I could keep up with all of the voluminous posters. Oh, I would also buy a round of donuts for all the wonderful CR posters. Also, coffee would be replaced with chicken soup on Fridays. Just think of how tasty it would be every Friday – washing down a cruller with a steamy mug of chicken soup.

If I was a moderator, which I will certainly not be doing (please!), I would add a feature for people to tag their “favorite” comments so that we could see how relevant any particular post may be on here. Might make this more competitive and fun.

    “Might make this more competitive”

Why does it need to be competitive. The CR is basically a discussion area on a wide variety of topics. I don’t know where any type of competition comes into play. Please explain what you mean. If you only have fun while competing, I think you are on the wrong website.

I would delete all posts that didn’t have perfect spelling and grammar.

Of course, that would mean there would be nothing left of the CR.

I do not mean competitive in the sense that we are going to trump one another. I mean that it might make it more enticing for someone to try to write something interesting. Thats all.

“what would you do FIRST if you became a mod?”

that’s a good question… I have to think about that for awhile. has anybody seen my old friend 86 lately – maybe I could discuss it with him…

I think it would be good to have a “like” button under each post to show that you agree instead of having to send another post saying that.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I would hire a full time CR caterer. No Jewish function (or job) is complete without overflowing platters of assorted pickled and smoked meats (or various shmears). Of course, the menu would change daily and there would also be a large pastry table. Some days fleishigs would be completely banned so that the pastry table could contain items with lots of real whipped cream and large cheesecakes.

Let’s not forget the chocolate in moderation.

    #787223

First thing I’d do is update the CR more often…sorry I just had to say that 🙂 and also I’d be the nightime mod cuz there’s never anyone on at night.

I would hold a dinner for all the posters (Joes are not invited) and award 80 with a huge banner for doing a great job! I would also make sure there is always someone Moderating so there’s no time when ppl sit and do nothing

i think the first order of business when someone becomes a mod is making a kiddush!

after that if i were a mod, i would have a meeting with the mod squad and set rules that must be adhered to.

upon entering the coffee room each person must click the ”i agree” button which signifys that the rules have been read and agreed to.

one of the most important rules would be RESPECT. each person who posts has a right to their opinion . we do not have to agree with it, but they are allowed to voice their thoughts here. i would not tolerate the insults and bashing that sometimes happens on this site. it only adds to the sinas chinam and loshon hora.

we should try to make this site a positive one with people looking to learn positive things here and doing mitzvas.

thanks for allowing me my thoughts!

    “like”—> “agree”/”disagree”

but then we’ll have lobbying for

    “LOL”

“Mamish the most meshugganeh thing I’ve ever heard”

    “Mazel tov!”

“MY Rav shlita would NEVER pasken that way”

“Mods, please delete this thead IMMEDIATELY!!”

“Go to the Cocoa Room. Go straight to the Cocoa Room. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200”

    etc.

Institute an age range and gender tag that appears under your screen name. One that the Mods would verify before approving membership

BPT- but then if you know if a guy/girl is can you still talk to the opposite gender?

    #787230

Yes. In real life, I speak to women as well. But what and how its said is different than how I speak to men. Plus, there are certain conversations that should not be pursued between genders, and certainly some topics that should not be pursued when the age gap is too great.

Sounds condesending, but trust me, you’ll agree when you hit your mid-50s, and get drawn into a conversation with a 20 y/o bocher on a topic that is simply out of bounds
