My school is ending Monday!!! CANT WAIT!!!
Mine ended in the 80s
I ended Wed, my daughters ended Thursday, one son ended Friday, my other sons end Wednesday, another 2 sons end with the zman. CAN’T WAIT!!!

I remember the days when I used to look forward to Summer vacation. Now it just means that it’s more work on my wife entertaining the lil uns.

As my daughter would say, “Not soon enough!!!” Here in EY the girls in BY get off at end of June. My girls are in private school. High school finishes in 2 weeks. Lower grades on 26/27 Tammuz.
My question is, though, how long do you think is a long enough summer break?
i think 8 weeks is perfect!! of course i dont mind having more but that should be the minimum!!!
Mitzvahgirl – Is that because you are going to camp and you want time back at home to do a few things as well? What if you didn’t go to camp? Don’t mean to be nosy, just curious about how kids look at vacation time.

Nechoma, I definitely think that 8 weeks is a good minimum. Many of us in school are always stressed out about all the tests and work and need that break in the summer just to relax and not be so pressured all the time.
we have 10 weeks and I could use 2 more. This week we only have 9 and I’m already anxious about not having enough time to regroup before hitting the grindstone all over again. 🙁

Here in England schools are finishing mostly after tisha b’av this year. Some will finish earlier, in order to have two weeks of school before Rosh Hashana.
(I think, school here means up to age 17/18, not like in the US where you’re forever going to school. Afterwards we call it Yeshiva, sem, college or uni etc.)
6 weeks is standard here. Does anyone else have that amount?
Need an idea to get my daughter a gift for being such a good girl all year around for doing homework etc, age 10 something small but meaningful…..
finishing tomorrow school, want to surprise her…..
nechomah no i think 8 weeks is a great minimum-kids need 2 relax!! after working hard all year everyone needs some relaxation time!!
