Does anyone else in the Coffee Room occasionally succumb to this surreptitious nocturnal impulse to snack? What foods present the greatest challenge, and what ways have you found useful in breaking this bad habit? Sweets without a doubt are my biggest downfall, although I am unlikely to discriminate against any carb in the wee hours on the occasions that I snack. Please share your humor and/or your helpful tips 🙂

I don’t have to go to the pantry – I keep a bag of chocolate on hand at all times. ^_^

do you actually leave your bed in middle of the night to snack, or is this before going to bed?

Put a lock on the fridge and cabinet doors. And rid the house of nosh and things that tempt you. I know, easier said than done.

    Hello tzaddiq,

It could be either or, I’m embarrassed to admit. Sometimes, when I have insomnia, I will have a little snack 🙁

I have been pretty successful at stopping this, and I do good things too (like swimming a mile a day). Still, sometimes I am overcome by the munchies!

I second Ima, make the tempting stuff less accessible. Living on two floors sure has its benefits, but there are other ways to lessen the snacking temptation, especially when you’re tired and lazy. Put the good stuff on the top shelf (if you MUST have it in the house) in hard to open containers etc.

But I must ask, isn’t the CR a greater cause of sleep disturbance ; ) ?

Get yourself over to your doc for blood work. It might be a sugar issue. He should test your glucose and insulin. Good luck.

    Hello funny bone,

I should have mentioned that I have had bloodwork done, and everything is normal. Thank you though for this recommendation!
