to read/discuss/debate the ideas & opinions of people who i have much in common with, but are different ages/from different backgrounds/living a different lifestyle than me.
which doesnt necessarily happen in real life. i learn a lot from others’ outlooks here.
also, i personally think it’s a step up from what i normally would be doing at this time (what i did before i started here).
also, like kapusta said, to unwind & relax a bit

Joseph, it’s #4 because I do it less and less these days. After I found myself being lumped together with you by other posters (in terms of opinions), the fun kinda went out of it.
Beacon, as you know, I work down the aisle from Mod55. In fact, it was she who pointed out these advantages to me.

Kosher forum with topics from secular to Lumdish and I don’t have to hide my positions on any topic. I also like reading the back-and-forth between other users….reading people’s stories….ala Funny Shidduch Stories…..
I like learning from others, especially those in other sects of Judaism. I learn more and more about minhagim, psak halacha and general ways of life of those I don’t associate with that closely. So I argue strongly from my side, but I do listen to the other side, and have sometimes changed my opinion on a topic.
And, most of the time, Joseph makes me laugh 🙂

I agree with all above reasons, plus:
– To see that I’m not the craziest person on planet earth after all 😉
– To mingle with all types of yidden from all walks of life- it’s a thrill, and everyone is so open for a change
– The CR is very informative and sometimes a challenge, but all this in a relaxed, mostly humorous atmosphere
Random q: why did they take off the highlighting on the YWN cofferoom??? I can’t find it anymore I keep clicking on rides and calender! Shtickle annoying

I come here, because I enjoy reading other Jewish people’s opinions from all sectors, and I like to be able to anonymously express my own feelings in a safe environment. I have learned a great deal from other posters, and I hope some of you may feel I have contributed a comment or two that was worthwhile, too.
