There are some words I think that are used incorrectly. For example, when people say that something is “retarded” or someone is “mental”. I think that these words should not be used in our everyday conversation. They are not bad words per se but there really are people who are “retarded” (retarded is not the rt word to use anymore anyway- it’s not classy) I don’t know why it bothers me so much when people use these words in everyday conversation, in the wrong context but it does.

Am I wrong and am I being ridiculous?

I learned in camp that doing this can fall under the category of ona’as devarim cuz there are people who really are retarded or mentally ill, and you never know who might have a sibling/parent/friend, etc. who is, and this can really be hurtful. sorry about that run-on and awkward phrasing :0)
