What type of shul is the Vorhand Shteibel?

it’s a pretty good yeshiva. my brother’in’law went there. in the summer, the first half every mesivta bochur is required to go to camp ohr shraga, which is the summer camp of Yeshiva torah Vodaath
How can a yeshiva ‘require’ boys to go to one specific camp?

It is a continuation of Yeshiva. Yeshivas (not elementary) very commonly go until chodesh Av. A number of Yeshivos have the last month in camp.
We just read about the pertira of its Rosh Yeshiva, Hogoan R’ Zelik Epstien, ZT”L.
The inqiurer may want to go back and read some of those articles and posts to get some idea.

shaar hatorah is a yeshiva for a smart boy who is able to handle pressure. it is not yeshivish like torah temima. from ysh some guys go to brisk and also some to yu
btw the “torah program” is really good (for a self motivated guy) and alot of peer pressure

Rav Vorhand’s shtiebel on the Upper West Side? I do not know if he is still alive or who runs the shul now, but Rav Vorhand is/was a Chassidishe rov who had held some sort of office in Czechoslovakia. His shtibl was known as one of the frummest shuls on the UWS in my day.

Rav Forhand zz’l was called the “Prager Rov” after Prague, czech republic.
His son is now running the shul.
