I would like to invite all yiddishe converts to submit their essay style writings to an anthology I am putting together on Gerim/Geoirus in Yiddishkeit.
So if you want to tell your story, please get in touch with me at (REMOVED) OR you can tell me your story, and I will type it up, and you and I go over the finished copy for modifications.
This is an opportunity to share (anyonmously) or under a pen name your truth, your story. Whether its inspirational, or humurous, an insight in to what effort it took you to shvitz climbing up the mountain..etc
Of course if you prefer to write under your own name, this is your choice too! Its a great way to get heart, and know in the publishing world. your work.

What about Ladino converts? Even better Hebrew converts. Rav Ovadia says that anyone who converts in EY must become Sephardic.
Rav Ovadia zt’l was a minority opinion on this.

Avi, I know it’s your whole shtick, but maybe take a break from the whole “death to Ashkenaz” thing for a day. This thread has nothing to do with any of that.
Neville, I even gave it three days. I never said “Death to Ashkenaz”. In fact, my nusach Ashkenaz (of EY). I just think that creole German should be allowed to pass into history. I really do not understand this tendency to hold on to a remnant of a dismal past. Someone should do a doctorate on it. BTW, other posters here have started threads with names like “The Casualties of Yiddish in Litvishe Chadorim”and”Down with Yiddish” so I do have like-minded participants.

DY, I am not a hater c”v. You are over on hotzaat shem ra (although of course I forgive you). I simply think that it is a shtut and that we should move on. We certainly should not have nostalgia for one of the worst periods in our history.
It’s not nostalgia, it’s realism. What you’re suggesting is that we ignore the majority of Jewish history and replace it with an invented, Zionist culture (invented by open-Atheists, by the way). Also, there is no logical reason your arguments wouldn’t equally apply to minhag sphard. The only reason the Zionist Comrades preferred it was because they were self-loathing Ashkenazim, as I imagine you probably are.
Loud opinions are not strong opinions. If you felt secure in the logic of what you are saying, you wouldn’t feel the need to spout it on every single thread that has nothing to do with it.

1. The Yiddishists were even worse.
2. Actually there was a big debate among the Zionists between Yiddish and Hebrew. Hebrew won out because it is the common language of all Jews.
3. It seems to me that you are being loud. Did I touch a nerve? I just cannot understand this phenomenon. I do admit that I am annoyed by maggidei shiurim who assume that everyone understands their Yiddish phrases.I adopted a boy and a girl with proper geirus as babies and b”H they follow yiddishkeit by being shomer shabbos properly.
Laskern, did you inform them that they are adopted? Are they biological siblings? If not a rav should be consulted regarding issues such as yichud.
Avi K, I am familiar with all considerations. We followed Reb Moshe’s psak in Igros Moshe. They were told at a young age before anyone else would tell them. Besides, it is necessary to accept yiddishkeit at Bar and Bas Mitzva. The Tzitz Eliezer ztz’l says there is no yichud problem as they grew up as brother and sister, not biologically, so there is no problem. Also we were seen as father and mother so there was no problem.
The are both married with children of their own.
