50 rabbonim, described as Mekubalim, will take part in a flight over Eretz Yisrael as part of a tikun against swine flu. They will recite tehillim, blow shofarot, and recite other tikunim as an act in response to the spread of the illness in Eretz Yisrael, with three fatalities to date and some 20 people in serious condition in hospitals around the country.
According to Rabbi Benayahu Shmueli, rosh yeshiva of Nahar Shalom in Yerushalayim, the illness may chas v’sholom spread rampantly in Eretz Yisrael due to the “immorality and indecency” that exists. “To my sorrow, many in Am Yisrael are guilty of this” the rav stated.
The rav added it is not coincidental that one can become infected by mouth, explaining in the frum community the tikun lies in the mouth, the absolute need to stop loshon hora, calling on the tzibur to make a greater effort to guard one’s speech.

Amazing. They are saying that there is something everyone should be doing. Not just the women being more tzniyus.
To those that say “it can’t hurt”: Anytime we do something l’shaim shmayim that is not found in shas or poiskim it always hurts. Hypocrosy and avoda zorah hurts.
Acting, saying and spending money on something with the implication that it is a torah based concept while it is anything but a torah based concept is pure avoda zorah.
There is a lot going on in this world beyond your 5 senses!!! U wouldn’t make fun if the arizal did this. Not that they are on his level at all… But I’m sure they know somethings they we simply can’t grasp being that we r more attached to this blue ball then they are. Therefore let them do what they do.. Sometimes, a simple Yid’s Emunah Peshuta can outweigh the actions of even 50 “Mekubalim.” I think many of us realize intuitively that, because the world is run by the Ribbono Shel Olam, there is no need to go up in an airplane. Hashem will answer our sincere Tefilos, wherever we are.
