Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita Arrives in USA

Following a three-day delay due to Hurricane Sandy, the Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita has arrived in the United States where he plans to attend a simcha and meet with supporters.

For some of the wealthier chassidim the highlight of the rebbe’s visit will be a private shabbos with him, an event that carries a hefty price tag, $50,000 a person. It is being reported that several dozen chassidim reserved a spot for the special event.

  1. rc. I agree. I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe its the timing, maybe its the $50,000 price tag…. just not sure. Many frum families may have no electric, food, or water this shabbos. The $50,000 tag sticks in my mind.

  2. Jewishflorida how about the 50,000.00 is to help the needy. BTW the rennet of viznitz is known for giving out huge amounts for tzedakah

  3. cm4r, Beautiful thing- $50,000 for the needy. I am just glad I am not in the dire state with a destroyed home with hungry children, in the same neighborhood where people are eating lavishly for $50,000 a plate dinner. It’s a difficult test, to appreciate the visit.

  4. What do you think that the Rebbe is going to do with the money except for tzedakah or Vishnitz cheders, yeshivas, or girl school.

  5. The Rebbe shlita has gone for a family simcha thus the flight has nothing to do with the tzedaka. He is raising money for the mosdos in Israel who take in many children for free bacause their parents are ‘always’ in dire straits and not just temporarily like New Yorkers now. Also, those paying the price for the dinner are those who are, I am sure, sponsoring many of the relief efforts in New York. Hevei Don Lekaf Zechus, and I know the above for sure as my husband is a staunch vishnitzer.
