Baruch Dayan Emmes: Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Bamberger ZT”L


candle914HaRav Moshe Aryeh Bamberger ZT”L was niftar suddenly on Tuesday, 18 Adar I 5774 at the age of 70. The rav was the mora d’asra of the Metz Kehilla in France for 40 years.

After WWII the niftar learned in Kol Torah and then in Gateshead, remaining in the kollel after his chasenah. He assumed the leadership of the Metz community at the age of 30, serving as the area rav, dayan and rosh kollel.

Known as a talmid chacham, the niftar also published the Torah of Chachmei Metz along with manuscripts of the Sha’agas Aryeh.

Rav Bamberger is survived by his rebitzen, his mother, and 11 children.

  1. He was a very fine man, a real mensch, and talmid chacham, and baal chesed. When I was in the military, stationed in Germany, my wife and kids and I used to go to the Bambergers for Shabbos and Yom TOv frequently. He and his Rebbetzin and children were lovely hosts, and we enjoyed our time with them tremendously. He will be sorely missed. Baruch Dayan Emes.
