Thanks to good police work by the NYPD’s 70 Precinct, a car stop yielded way more than a moving violation – but a loaded handgun.

Officers stopped a white Mercedes at around 6:30PM Thursday night at the intersection of Avenue M and East 14 Street. The vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.

Shortly after stopping, the two occupants fled the vehicle on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, they were apprehended and taken into custody.

A loaded gun was recovered from inside the vehicle.

The two men were taken into custody without further incident.
