PHOTOS: Erroneous Change Traffic In Arrangements For Leaving Meah Shearim Almost Leads To Head-On Collision

(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Jerusalem made a traffic change regarding exiting Meah Shearim with a vehicle. While in the past, one could make a right turn onto Salant Street, this is now prohibited and vehicles must exit via the intersection of Shivtei Yisrael and Meah Shearim Streets.

As the sign was just affixed, some drivers did not take notice and B’chasdei Hashem, a head-on collision was averted on Salant Street. After a number of Meah Shearim residents reports near-misses due to the new sign, Deputy Mayor Yossi Deutsch acted and it was learned the sign was placed in error and has since been removed.

As a result, one may turn onto Salant from Meah Shearim Street as in the past.
