WATCH: Police Viciously Attack Peleg Protesters

After a long day of Peleg mayhem across Israel, the Israeli police have turned violent in Jerusalem on Thursday night.

This video was taken around 10:00PM IL on

Eye witnesses tell YWN that police began beating up any person standing on the streets. Vicious punches, kicks, choke-holds and other techniques were being used as police simply attacked anyone they could get their hands on.

While police are just as frustrated along with hundreds of thousands of other Israelis by the actions of the Peleg on Thursday, police brutality is never acceptable.

More than 100 Peleg protesters were arrested in Jerusalem on Thursday as the Peleg carried out their promise of a “day of rage” following the arrest of two Peleg Bochrim. They were arrested for failing to register for the draft, in line with instructions from Hagaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach.

As of today, the fourth day of protests, more than 100 protesters have been arrested. As was expected, nine of those arrested for blocking streets, were also charged with evading the draft – as they have never signed up.

  1. While it is heartbreaking to watch this, I hate to say it but maybe this is what’s needed to stop this insanity. You can’t shut cities down and get white glove treatment.

  2. “Police brutality is never acceptable”
Wow, amazing that YWN is going out on a limb. I thought, based on what I read here, that vicious brutality against Yerushalmi’s/Charedim is not only acceptable but encouraged. Interesting.

  3. My wife, who is unwell, needed to visit my daughter who was in hospital. She was stuck 4 hours in town and could not visit her.

Peleg is only making a new dor haflagah for us. The police should beat the daylights out of them and let them go to hospital.

And my feelings are the same for their leaders.

  4. the disabled have been blocking streets and holding up traffic for weeks but I don’t see any vicious comments against them or police brutality! And the disabled are only protesting for money, while the Peleg are protesting to keep religious Jews out of the grips of the anti-religious,anti-Torah IDF!

  5. garlic: maybe you should change the way you speak about rabbonim as a zechus for a refuah shleimah for your wife and daughter.
what would you have said, had your wife been stuck in traffic b/c of the disabled protestors, huh?!
    probably not a peep

  6. I don’t know – in looking at this video, I don’t see the police “attacking anyone they can get their hands on”. I see them forcefully arresting a Peleg rioter in a tense situation where they’re surrounded by other Peleg rioters. In a situation like that, the use of force to make sure others don’t attack them is not necessarily out of line.

With such a short clip and limited context, this is essentially meaningless. After all, remember the clip of a senior soldier using his rifle butt to knock a pro-Arab protester to the ground in the Jordan Valley a couple of years ago? It looked terrible – but the actual story (some of which was in the more extended clip) was that the offices in question had been dealing with rioters for several hours and had sustained a few broken fingers in the process – and the rioter was struck after touching the officer’s gun. Who was the wrong one there?

    an Israeli Yid
