Peleg Protests Bring More Arrests & More Protests [UPDATED 2:39PM IL]


2:39PM IL: [PHOTOS & VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE] Following is the announced schedule of planned protest activities of the Peleg faction around Israel for Monday afternoon, 3 Cheshvan.

Jerusalem – 2:00pm
• Entrance to the city
• HaNevi’im Street
• Yaffo near Induction Center (Rashi Street)
• Yaffo and the corner of Shar Ha’ir
Center
• Shilat Junction (no time given)
Coca Cola Junction at 3:00pm
Tzefas
• Entrance to the city (no time given)

In addition, the disable community announced it will resume protests between 4:00pm and 5:00pm in around the country including the center and Jerusalem.

Adding to the traffic in Jerusalem is the opening of the Knesset winter session and the yahrzeit of HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L , with thousands making their way to Sanhedria Cemetery, Shmuel HaNavi and Bar Ilan Streets.

After a brief hiatus, the Peleg protests seen during bein hazmanim last week are resuming this afternoon, Monday 3 Cheshvan. Peleg organizers are calling on talmidei yeshivos and avreichim from around the country to converge on Yerushalayim, beginning at 2:00pm at Binyanei Ha’uma.

Some of the Peleg protesters who were arrested were found to be listed as deserters from the IDF and have since been sentenced to 20 days in military prison.

In a voice recording sent to activists, it was said that at the instruction of the spiritual leadership, they should gather at 2:00pm in the Binyanei Ha’uma area in Jerusalem, where a “word-of-mouth message” will be transmitted about the precise location of the demonstration.

At the same time, the chareidi community activists announced that at the instruction of the Gavaad Eida Chareidis HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita, yeshiva students would gather at Kikar Shabbos at 1:45pm and hold their own protest on the arrest of the deserters.

    senior lecturers in 17 public colleges are demanding improved benefits and have opted to strike rather than to report to work. It is estimated that approximately 55,000 of the 309,000 students attending an institute of higher education in Israel are impacted by the strike in 17 schools.
