Motzei Shabbos News Round-Up From Israel


A man was shot and killed and another was severely injured in a criminal attack that took place over the course of Shabbos on Ba’alei Tosefos Street in Tel Aviv. Initial investigations by the police point to criminal background for the incident. Volunteers from United Hatzalah and Mage David Adom treated the injured man at the scene before transporting him to the hospital. EMS teams attempted to resuscitate the second man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

IDF forces shot and killed a terrorist and arrested others after they were caught throwing firebombs at Israeli vehicles in the Har Hevron region. Emergency rescue teams told Israeli media that the incident took place near the town of Negohot and that the IDF teams were scouting to find the perpetrators of recent firebombing attacks when identified 3 suspects in the midst of carrying out an attack. According to the report, the IDF opened fire to prevent the attack and one of the perpetrators was killed. The other two were apprehended and arrested.

A rocket that was fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel landed in an open area in the Eshkol region. IAF planes retaliated and destroyed a Hamas outpost in the Strip as well as other Hamas targets in the northern region of the strip.

Security forces killed one terrorist and injured four others who were committing acts of violence at the Gaza border fence that threatened the lives of security forces.

A 30-yar-old motorcyclist was killed after he slipped with his vehicle on Highway 38 near Beit Shemesh.

2 men in their forties were seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident that transpired between an electric bicycle and a motorcycle near the M Hamoshavot Interchange by Petach Tikvah.

A year-and-a-half-old infant lost consciousness at her home in Kiryat Malachi. EMS teams treated her at the scene and transported her to the hospital while she was undergoing CPR. Due to the nature of the incident, United Hatzalah’s Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit was dispatched in order to help the family members who were suffering from severe emotional stress.

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein is set to meet with numerous parties on Sunday in order to make a last-ditch effort to form a government before a new round of elections will be called. As part of the meetings, Edelstein will meet with the negotiation teams from the Blue and White party as well as those form the Likud party and Avigdor Lieberman. Edelstein will also meet with the negotiating teams of the Charedi parties in hopes that they will be able to find a compromise with Lieberman to enable the Likud to form a right-wing government.
