WATCH: At Least 5 House Democrats Are Boycotting Trump’s State of the Union

At least 5 House Democrats will boycott President Trump’s State of the Union address, with Rep. Maxine Waters declaring the president a “racist” who does not “deserve” her attention.

Waters (D-Calif.), Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.), Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) have announced they will skip the Jan. 30 address.

“Why would I take my time to go and sit and listen to a liar? … He doesn’t deserve my attention,” Waters, 79, said on MSNBC Friday night.

“The United States of America is being represented by the most despicable human being that could possibly ever walk the earth. … Not only is he racist, he is an embarrassment for this country,” she declared.

Lewis, 77, said he cannot go forward with attending the address to Congress, after what President Donald Trump “has said about so many Americans… I wouldn’t be honest with myself.”

He also told NBC News he believes Trump has racism “in his DNA.”

Both legislators previously skipped Trump’s Inauguration ceremony, and Waters has since repeatedly called for the New Yorker to be impeached.

Blumenauer, 69, said last week Trump’s routinely “divisive” rhetoric spurred him to skip the State of the Union address as well.

Wilson announced her boycott on Monday, saying in a statement: “The United States’ reputation is smoldering in the ashes of his recent racist and incendiary remarks about Haiti and African nations. Many of his proposed domestic policies are harmful to people of color, low-income communities, and the middle class. It would be an embarrassment to be seen with him at a forum that under any other president would be an honor to attend.”

Jayapal announced Monday she plans to boycott President Trump’s State of the Union address to Congress at the end of the month:

“I’m here on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to say I will not be going to the State of the Union,” Jayapal said in a video posted on social media.

“I think it is absolutely unacceptable to see the racism and the hatred coming out the White House in a way in which this president is fueling the flames of divisiveness across our country,” she added.

  1. i agree with these ……… Thank G-D they didnt show up at the inaugeration and trump is doing a great job!
They should stay away from the SOTU and hopefully they take an extended vacation and get out of the way.
The air will smell better without them.

  2. Jealous babies!!! Finally in the past 15 years someone is getting things done and that’s against their policy. Their policy is to talk and talk and talk and talk……….

  3. Oh no! President Trump must be devastated. If the gang of 3 (Lewis, Wilson, Waters) are not coming, maybe the President should just cancel the speech.

  4. “The United States of America is being represented by the most despicable human being that could possibly ever walk the earth.”

Wow. Regardless of how you feel about Trumps ideas and policies, and even if you vehemently disagree with him, this statement is ludicrous. Hitler, Stalin etc… don’t rate as “the most despicable human being…” Trump does.

Ms. Waters, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
