Senator Simcha Felder Helping New Yorkers Stay Warm

As temperatures plummet this week, and heating costs rise, Senator Simcha Felder is happy to announce that on February 1 help arrives in the form of “HeartShare.” The HeartShare program helps with heating costs by providing up to $200 dollars in direct grants to your National Grid account.

“Once again, I look forward to helping you with your HeartShare applications. Over the past 5 years my office assisted over 900 families and seniors in receiving $180,000 in HeartShare assistance and I am glad that we are here to help again this year,” said Senator Felder.

The grants are made possible by the partnership between wonderful organizations, utility companies and elected officials to help New Yorkers handle heating costs through the extreme winter weather. Applications become available on February 1st and the program runs only as long as funds remain available. Applicants are urged to apply early by calling Senator Felder’s office for an appointment.

“A warm home keeps people safe and healthy through the winter, but for many New Yorkers, this is a real financial struggle. People should never have to sacrifice other vital necessities to stay warm. Last year, my office distributed $30,000 in HeartShare grants, which means hundreds of people did not have to make that difficult choice,” expressed Senator Felder.

For help with your heating bills, call Senator Felder’s office at 718-253-2015.
