  1. Is this event the same as the “cancelled” event that was the subject of an alleged “kol koreh” by certain rabbonim as reported here several days ago?

  2. Note to the protagonists from the other night….

When you make things assur, the kids will end up ch’v doing kol dovor assur!

  3. Can you post the full speach of Hagaon HaRav Sholom Ber Sortzkin?

Just wondering why “the situation here, is bemes the most chossivsteh tzibur in klal Yisrael”. Why?

I got no problem if it is the most choshivsteh tzibur, just wondering why bochurim by a kumzitz is so chosuv, when they can be learning Torah and doing so much better stuff.

  4. @chossid
As you may have noticed from the pictures, many bachurim were dressed in hats and jackets, These bachurim are not the bums of Lakewood.
These chashuve bachurim just worked very hard in Yeshiva for six long months. Even now during bein hazmanim, they all have a first seder at a Yeshivas Bein HaZmanim or at their local shul. They spend the rest of their day helping their parents prepare for Pesach and running errands. Then they go to shul for maariv at night, and most of them learn some more.
Being good bachurim, they do not have smart phones, and therefore aren’t busy the whole day on YouTube, Whatsap etc. They do not watch TV or movies. In a world devoid of any morality, they uphold it.
You asked “just wondering why bochurim by a kumzitz is so chosuv, when they can be learning Torah and doing so much better stuff.”
The answer is that bochurim by a kumzitiz is so chashuv because they learn many other times, and this is their time to rightfully have a bit of fun in the form of a beautiful yiddishe kumzitz with yiddishe taam and hartz.
אשריכם תלמידי חכמים- how beautiful are they that this is their divrei chol!!!

  5. “just wondering why bochurim by a kumzitz is so chosuv, when they can be learning Torah and doing so much better stuff:

Of course, you could chain these bochurim to their shtenders 24×7 (perhaps allow them to go home for the sedorim with their families) but otherwise cancel all bein hazmanim, force the rabbonim and all the support staff who clean the beis medrash etc. to never take vacation with their families and also work 24×7. After, all words “bein hazmanim” never appear in tanach whereas we do see the words והגית בו יומם ולילה

  6. Let it be known, that that two reshoyim arurim behind the banning of this event are the biggest “peleg yerushalmi” living in lakewood. one of them is a writer for a self-hating rag called lehovin.

he should be proud. after all, these animals love protest. last night he got a taste of his own medicine with his entire house egged.

next stop, the anti-vaaxer peleg usa leader.

    WAKE UP LAKEWOOD

  7. I heard that Rabbi Morgolis (son of the famous gadol of Torah temimah) was fired up over this travesty and wanted it banned. WOndering if he was this fried up over the molestation that went on in his own yeshiva for fifty years and pushed under the rug.

  8. Wanna know why the bochrim dont care what their roshei yeshiva say anymore? because various individuals in great positions in lakewood are mevazeh the gadolei hador,

Now they are paying dearly. And it didn’t get started. This malchus will be flushed down the drain.

  9. BMG made a lavish event in prague for their supporters last year, eating in high end restaurants, entertainment etc, anashim vnashim together….with the participation of the roshei yeshiva. This event pales in comparison to that.

What about the night before tisha bav even three summers ago? BMG event with wine tasting, meats, cigar rolling, music, singer….of course with a siyum to kasher it all up…. that is ok? but this isnt?

why can one make a party on purim with taaruvis and kol davar asur, open bars and who knows what else and get a free pass? oh right. Stupid me! He gave 100K to BMG on erev purim.

the list goes on and on and on and on.

the hippocrasy stinks. STINKS STINKS STINKS

  10. This is a massive chillul hashem. It’s clear that instead of a beautiful kumzitz in a kosher environment, we should have canceled this too and let the bochurim protest and fight with police. (this comment is sarcasm, by the way. the event is clearly a very nice, kosher pastime.)

  11. It is nice that someone figured out a way to keep the boys out of trouble during a month-long vacation (I mean that sincerely).
Perhaps an alternative answer is to keep the zman going an extra week so that there would not be so much downtime and less opportunity for boys to get into trouble in the first place. I am sure that two weeks or so of vacation time would have given most of these kids enough time to chill and recharge their batteries.

    Just a thought.

  12. @bein hazmanim bachur
If what you’re saying is true, then kol hakovod to them.

I just found it a little funny to post the kumzitz but not the learning.

(Did you just make your account bein hazmanim?)

  13. Such events are perfect for bucharim, they are great outlets. But I’m confused why this had to be davka now before Pesach as opposed to Chol Hamed. There’s a time and place for everything. There’s enough money spent on entertainment during Chol Hamoed, I fail to see why entertainment should be extended to pre-Yom Tov activities.

  14. ITS VERY SIMPLE THE PEOPLE THAT WANTED IT ASUR STRUGGLE WITH SHMIRAS EINAYIM AND TAAVAS ISHA IN GENERAL AND THEY MAKE UP FOR IT BY ACTING ALL FRUM AND SATMARIE! STUPID, IF YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT BEING NICHSHAL DO TESHIVAH GO TO THE MIKVAH AND THEN LEARN LEARN LEARN MIYAGEYA BATORAH, INSTEAD OF FEELING ALL GUILTY AND LASHING OUT ON THE WRONG THINGS, ISIS THE NIGHT BEFORE A MASS KILLING ARE KNOWN TO BE DOING KOL DAVAR ASUR IN ARYAOS BEFRAT AND THEN THE NEXT DAY SHOOT PEOPLE UP IN THE NAME OF GOD

  15. “Say it as it is” : No stink, No hypocrisy at all. Only the sweet smell of Torah and Emunas Chachomim. Let me explain it to you quite simply. The halocha is quite different if the event is to raise money to pay the salaries of the choshive Roshei Yeshiva and other marbitzei Torah. In that circumstance, mixed gatherings are quite permitted as it is the noshim tzidkonois who prompt their working husband [loi uleini] to give more money and as we all know ein kemach, ein Torah. As the Roshei Yeshiva Shlita are there, there is B”H also Torah in such a gathering. Do you really expect the Roshei Yeshiva to be matriach themselves to leave the koislei Beis Hamedrash and not to at least have a decent meal? Shame on you. I pity you that you cannot see the kovod HaTorah in making a nice meal for a siyum Erev Tisha B’Av and that you seem to never have heard that ein simcha ela bebosor veyayin. And as for Purim, I have no words. A choshive baal haboos who always, not just at Purim, donates nicely when the Rosh Yeshiva asks, also opens his home and puts out enough liquor so that bochurim can experience ad d’lo yoda lemehadrin, and you Say it as it is just moan and complain. what is wrong with you? How can you even let the words “taaruvis and kol davar asur” lreave your mouth or pen? Hamavdil bein kodesh l’chol, ve hamayvin yovin.

  16. Can someone please explain WHY the other event was osured??what was different about this event? Who sponsored this event ?

  17. The people who’s sunday night kumzitz was cancelled suffered financial loss. They charged a minimal fee.
Do the roshei yeshiva of bmg take redposibility for this? First they ban it, then 2 days later they make the same event with the same singers for free.
What does halacha say about financial responsibility of bmg roshei yeshivs to sunday night’s kumzitz organizers?

  18. Baruch Hashem this kosherized event replaced the non-kosher event from earlier this week that was forcibly cancelled upon the orders of Gedolei Yisroel.

  19. The difference between this event and the previously cancelled one is the cancelled one was a leitzanos event where some chayos raos were angry at the Gedolei Rabbonim shlit”a who put a stop to it before it got far worse, so they rioted like hooligans on the streets and were arrested by the police.

This event, unlike the cancelled one, was eidel and supervised by the rabbonim shlita.

  20. For all those screaming:
I’m not sure what “Peleg” has anything to do with this. R’ Shmuel Kamenetzky Shlit”a, who’s anything but Peleg, was the one who said they should cancel the event. I personally don’t know what the problem was or is, but one thing I do know is, who does something think they are, to say what they want against Talmidei Chachomim? And this goes to all things that come up, does anyone know the ins or outs? Do we just follow YWN? Did anyone speak to R’ Elyashiv Zt”l and hear his side before yelling and screaming about his shita when it comes to the army? Where have we fallen? Is R’ Shmuel Kamentzky shlit”a dumb chas vesholom? if you don’t understand something find out what his problem with it is, if you don’t it’s ok if you follow your daas torah but what gives you the right to open your mouth when you haven’t learned a fraction of what he did.

  21. “The difference between this event and the previously cancelled one is the cancelled one was a leitzanos event where some chayos raos”

    TM,

Baloney; aside from venue, there was no difference between the two events. The Rabbonim and Roshei Yeshiva realized they were lied to outright by two miserable “geichazis”, the real chayos raos, and allowed the show to go on.

  22. @chossid
There are no videos of the learning posted because its not interesting to watch. I t also looks the same every time- just go to your local shul and watch- no reason to post.

As to whether I created my account bein hazmanim, I created it yesterday specifically to respond to you because I was upset at what you wrote.

  23. If we are going to “assur” events like the one presented in these photos and videos (Thank you YWN) we are going to lose many of the bochurim to yiddeshkeit over time. There is NOTHING to criticize about the wonderful dvar torah mixed with singing and dancing to the music of mainstream frum musical artists. Kol hakovod to the organizers and let the critics crawl back into their dark caves.

  24. For all those of you out there spreading misinformation I just wanted to clarify that this concert was 100% ASSUR just like the first one. NO GADDOL OR ROSH YESHIVA WAS BEHIND IT!! (R S.B. Sorotzkin only spoke there because he was lied to by the organizers of this event.) Also the notion that the banning of this event was perpetrated by some yeshivishe instigators is a libel spread by some bitter people who all have some agenda or another (some monetarily and some stam looking for power and control) this kumzitz was no different than the one canceled Sunday by R Shmuel Kamenetzky and all the other Heilige yidden that signed on the Kol Koreh posted all over Lakewood and they all made their decision by themselves (I heard this from a lot of them personally). But don’t take my word for it, listen to what R Uren Reich Shlita had to say Wednesday morning about the event and those that arranged it.He also articulated beautifully what was the mindset behind banning it.His speech can be found on matzav.com and I hope they put it on ywn as well. Dear yidden it’s time to start listening to our gedolim and not to those that go against them! Please don’t formulate your opinions based on what a bunch of bloggers and people with websites want you to think.

  25. Ish Hashaloam

On matters of vaccination, he’s been a major boon to the antivaxx conspiracy crayzen (they use his letter as a proof as to not vaccinate). Very problematic as it it mamish a matter of communal health. Please ponder on that before replying.

  26. Vaccination is a medical matter and everyone should follow their source of medicine. I do know that R’ Shmuel was approached by three doctors in Lakewood recently, and spoke to them for an hour and didn’t agree with them. Although I do, and always did, vaccinate my children, I watch how I speak about Talmidei Chachamim, whether they follow the derech of Rav Moshe , Satmar Rav , Rav Shach or Rav Yoshe Ber Zichronim Levracha.

  27. @bachurfromlkwd read this from the lakewood scoop Z K says:
    APRIL 17, 2019 AT 5:49 PM
As someone who was involved in the event last night – no I wasn’t part of the first event or the protest – I got involved later when one of the RY asked me to get involved
The out come of the final meeting at 7:00pm was that there is no Kol koreh and the RY of Lakewood are not assuring or mattering it –
Each individual RY should tell his Bouchrim if they should go or not
Which many yeshivas did so text messages or phone calls
The robo call in the name of the RY was totally false

  28. “For all those of you out there spreading misinformation I just wanted to clarify that this concert was 100% ASSUR just like the first one.”

    Bachur,

RC is correct, there was no Kol Koreh regarding Tuesday night’s event and you owe Harav Sorotzkin, Shlita an apology!

  29. You cannot disregard opinions on ANY matter of any of the gedolim, including medical/vax matters that they address publicly.
