SHOCKING: Former NYC Council Speaker Tells CNN “When Woman Gets Pregnant That Is Not A Human Being Inside Of Her”

On Monday evening on Chris Cuomo’s primetime show on CNN, former New York City Democratic Council Speaker Christine Quinn made a sickening remark in defense of abortion rights.

Quinn was debating former Pennsylvania Senator and Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

During a discussion about state-level “heartbeat bills,” which prohibit abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, Quinn claimed: “When a woman gets pregnant, that is not a human being inside of her. It is part of her body, and this is about a woman having full agency and control of her body and making decisions about her body and what is part of her body with medical professionals,” Quinn said. “Those are the facts and that is the law.”

Santorum replied: “So the baby is their property and they can do whatever they want to it. They can maim the baby or torture the baby.”

Quinn shot back: “This is about a woman’s body. Rick, you’re spinning fake stories. You’re so desperate here, you’re so desperate here. You’re bringing up fake stories.”

Satorum said he was “not desperate. I’m just asking questions.”

When Santorum asked Cuomo if he disagreed “that at the moment of conception that a child is human and alive?” Cuomo replied that means it’s “viable.” When Santorum asked, “Is it biologically a human life?” Quinn shouted, “No!”

  1. what does the torah say ? what does the gemorah call an “uber ” from day 1- till 40 days ? maya bealma … ofcourse thats not what they mean? but what does it mean?

  2. Quinn is an avowed, open toeivah! She/it is a mental case. Being toeivah is being mentally disturbed.

  3. I don’t claim to be an expert in this area of halachah, but don’t we also believe that, until the moment of birth, the fetus is part of the mother’s body and not an independent life?
Of course, that does not mean that one would be at liberty to to destroy the fetus at will and the din is even more machmir for a goy than for a Jew in this regard, so I can understand the revulsion at Mr. Quinn’s conclusion but surely a Jewish publication should not be publishing a headline that might seem to imply disagreement with halachah?

  4. The good news is that with all the lies coming from the left, at least in this video, they were pretending that they are against it being legal for babies to be killed after birth and while in labor.
At least they have the decency to pretend.

  5. On the point in the title of this article that is claimed to be ‘shocking’, Halachically she is correct. The baby is not considered a Halachic human being until it is actually born.

  6. What’s so shocking.? These are goyim (or frei Jews who think like goyim) we are talking about.

Who is “human” and entitled to rights is always a political question. In the 19th century, the American Supreme Court held that African Americans weren’t really human (in all fairness, most of the US was outraged and forced the issue by electing a radical Republican to reverse the decision in the next election). In the 20th century, a leading western country’s elected government decided Jews weren’t “human” (and in all fairness, most western countries didn’t really object very strongly until said leading western country tried to conquer them as well). The Democrats are in step with history – declare someone “non-human” and get away with it. That such a policy is unwise or immoral is irrelevant.

  7. Seems a lot of comments here conflate the concept of punishment with the nature of an action. A Jew cannot be put to death by a human court for the crime of killing an unborn fetus. That does not mean it is not murder. It only means it is a murder that cannot be punished with death. And in Sanhedrin 57 there is the opinion that when a non-Jew commits an abortion the non-Jew can indeed be subject to the death penalty.

  8. According to Jewish law, the fetus is a human being and killing it is considered murder. Sometimes there is a difference if it’s the first 40 days or not. For instance, if the mother had German measles at the very beginning all rabbonim say she can, even should, have an abortion. But if she just decides that she doesn’t want another child, it’s murder and forbidden, even at the very beginning.

  9. To rabbiofberlin:
I see that Nazi doctrine is part of you, and you are in the right place for it. Sir, you are a repugnant reminder of the victims of the holocaust.
Incidentally, the Torah in no way supports Ms. Quinn or you, but contrariwise.
Have you not read in the 51st Psalm, “I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”? David said that of himself and all of us. It wasn’t a part of his mother that was conceived in her, but it was him and me and you. Real live human beings! From conception!

  10. To all those who insinuated that her view is the Torah view… Please…
Whether or not the fetus is considered to be alive, according to Halacha abortion is forbidden in most cases. However based on the various factors it could range from a Torah prohibition to a Rabbinic Prohibition to a Mitzvah to perform abortion.
The prohibition is even stricter for a Ben Noach, so those who are “pro-choice” are generally “pro-murder”. Treat them as such.
As always a Halachic authority should be consulted, but even a quick search on the fetus and abortion in Jewish Law will give you some valuable information on the topic.

  11. Reb Moshe ZT”L paskens that it is completley osur whether for a goy or yid to do an abortion and if i remember correctly, it is considered murder
