A multinational salmonella outbreak linked to instant noodles has sickened at least 106 people across 14 European countries, with 49 requiring hospitalization. Health officials say most of those infected are children and teenagers.

The outbreak has been reported in several countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Poland, Denmark, and Sweden. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) have launched a joint investigation.

Investigators traced the outbreak to certain chicken and spicy chicken-flavored instant noodles sold in Europe after contaminated packages were identified in Germany and Lithuania. Many of those who became ill reported eating the products shortly before developing symptoms.

Manufacturer Reeva Foods said it is investigating the possible presence of the Salmonella Stanley strain in certain batches produced at a Euro Food Service facility in Ukraine. The company said production on the affected line has been halted, the suspected batches have been recalled, and samples have been sent for independent laboratory testing. Reeva Foods added that it has strengthened quality control measures and is cooperating fully with health authorities.
