A popular kosher pizzeria in the Five Towns was destroyed early Tuesday morning after a two-alarm fire tore through the building in Lawrence.
According to Nassau County fire officials, the blaze broke out at approximately 3:30 a.m. at Jerusalem Pizza (“J2”), located at 344 Central Avenue at the corner of Williams Street.
The flames quickly spread to the neighboring storefront, which was also destroyed. Although signage for The Sandwich Bar remained on the building, neighbors and fire officials said the business was no longer operating.
Approximately 150 firefighters responded to the scene, battling the intense blaze for about 90 minutes before bringing it under control.
Authorities said both businesses were unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
