Roshei mosdos of Lakewood’s girls schools have announced an agreement postponing the start of registration until Rosh Chodesh Shevat, saying the change is intended to ease the prolonged uncertainty and stress families face while seeking placements for their daughters.
The agreement – led by BMG roshei yeshiva Harav Yisroel Neuman, Harav Malkiel Kotler, Harav Yeruchem Olshin, and Harav Dovid Schustal – follows lengthy and detailed discussions with local rabbanim, askanim, school administrators, and parents.
For years, registration had opened immediately after Sukkos. That early start has left some families waiting anxiously for months before learning whether their daughters have been accepted.
Under the new policy, registration will only begin on Rosh Chodesh Shevat, and any agreement or acceptance of a girl into a school made before that date will have no validity.
An exception will allow new schools scheduled to open in the next school year (2027-28) to begin registration on the 15th of Teves because new mosdos need additional time to organize their classes, as they lack the infrastructure already in place at established schools.
The roshei mosdos say the change will benefit parents, schools, and, above all, the girls themselves.

Wow!! I’m Flabbergasted that the Lakewood ראשי-ישיבה are allowing School Registration on the Holy שבת which is when ראש-חודש שבט comes out this coming year, even though when it come to שופר וארבע-מינים we are not observing them this year just in-case someone would come to desecrate the holy שבת.
Come on, don’t you know that only “good” girls deserve a place in school? The rest, well it doesn’t matter what happens to them, they’re going to be failures in life anyway. How do I know? Because that’s what teachers/principles and askanim said about my daughters who – surprise, surprise – are happily married with families, building wonderful Jewish homes.
It is so sad that we have come to a point where instead of embracing Jewish children and focusing on teaching every child Torah we are systematically turning children away. That enrolling in a Jewish school should be a source of anxiety is heart breaking. How have we come to this point? Do we have so many children that some have become expendable. Oy, not enough space? So make it first come first serve until each school is full. Or is it that a specific Jewish child is not good enough/smart enough/frum enough to be accepted into school to be part of klal Yisrael. Kol Yisrael arevim zeh bazeh , surely applies to children. The Beis Hamikdash was DESTROYED because Jews rejected each other.
Have we come to the point where an institution take precidents over the individual feelings of human beings? Are we communists, rejecting Yiddishe Kinder for the common good?
I fear for this generation because honestly, from what I see NOTHING has changed in the Jewish people since Chorbon Sheini. The fact that communities are not standing up against this great avlah where Jewish children are being thrown out of school or left without a school to attend is horrible.
I will end with this thought. Who doesn’t cry when they listen to Abi Rottenberg’s a “Man from Vilna”? We cry because the fact that there were living Jewish children after the war that these children were danced with like Sifre Torah. Those children represented the future of klal Yisroel. Does each child now days no longer represent the future of our nation? If it was 1947 we would throw the door open wide for any Jewish child we could fine. Now….
I must add, Wake Up. Antisemitism is at our door, the worst we have seen in years! Its always a warning to us that WE are doing something wrong. WE are still rejecting each other. We don’t see the good in other Yidden, only what makes them different from us. There were plenty of great Torah scholars and yeshivos by Bayis Sheini yet here we still are today, enduring a bitter galus. Torah learning did not save the Jews then….
