The Bostoner Chassidus Accepts New Admorim

bos.jpgChassidim from many of the Boston communities both in Eretz Yisroel and America gathered in the Boston Beis Hamedrash in Har Nof, Yerushalayim “Givat Pinchas”, on the first Shabbos Chanukah for a Shabbos of achdus and chizuk at the conclusion of the Shiva for the late Bostoner Rebbe zt”l.

During the memorable Shabbos elders of the community and grandsons of the Rebbe zt”l spoke about some of the highlights of the Rebbe’s life and of the special qualities he had. Special emphasis was placed on the Rebbe’s emphasis on Ahavas Yisroel and hakoras hatov.

During Shalosh Seudos the son in law of the Rebbe zt”l, HaGaon Dayan Moshe Chaim Geldzheler Shlita said Torah and then announced that in accordance with the late Rebbe’s wishes as expressed in his tzavo [will], all three of his sons were to be crowned with the title of “Adoneinu Moreinu v’Rabeinu” [Admor]; Adoneinu Moreinu v’Rabeinu Pinchos Dovid Shlita, Adoneinu Moreinu v’Rabeinu Meir Alter Shlita and Adoneinu Moreinu v’Rabeinu Naftoli Yehuda Shlita.

On Sunday morning the three sons of the Rebbe zt”l, together with his two daughters and other family members, were joined by a large crowd of Chasidim who visited the Rebbe’s tzion at the end of the shiva.

  1. wow. amazing how the rebbe was a chochom ha’roieh es hanolad. he knew that klal yisrael could do without the fights that sometimes come after 120 and included them all!

    score one for achdus!

  2. It serves 2 important purposes. First of all so that there are no arguments as #4 says. Second, those living in one area do not have to travel to another area to seek advice/brocho/etc. from the crowned Admor, because there is one right there!

  3. #1 and #2 and #3 your comments are irrelevant. #5 The sons are talented in different ways but none are like the father, at all. He can never be replaced. And they would be the first to admit it.

Here’s how it probably will play out. R’ Meir will be the Bostoner-Har Nof; R’ Naftali will be the Bostoner Boston and the Chuster (R’ Pin. Dovid) will be (waitaminute, there already is a Bostoner-Boro Park now Baytar). What will the Chuster Rav be????? (I think he will be called the Chuster-Bostoner)

    Stay tuned…

  4. each of his son’s pocess very specisl qualities that klall yiroel with benifit from. family was something always very important to the rebbe tzl so it is no surprize of his wishes

  5. I have to say that I am not a chassid , I am a pretty big Misnaged, but it gives me such joy to see that the legacy of this tzadik is going to be kept and made even greater by three leaders instead of being fought over, such a wondeful gift to see

  6. Those of us who have seen Rav Mayer in Har Nof for many years have recognized how “special” he is, from his unbelievable davvening from the omud and his particular Avodas Hashem during Hoshanos, to make sure everyone goes on the right derech. He will use the chains of leadership with great chochma.

  7. To #6:
The current Boston-Boro Park/Ramat Beit Shemesh (not Beitar) has already been looking at selling their shul, as the shul has been shrinking due to Chasidim following the Rebbe to Israel, so there soon may not be a pre-existing Boston-Boro Park. The Bostoner Ruv of Beitar Illit is the son of the Chister Ruv, and has chosen to follow his father as his Rebbe. I don’t think that he will be Boston-Chist, as there are already several other Chister Ruvs/Rebbes, in Boro Park and Williamsburg, and the Chist kehillah is rather small (much smaller than Boston).

  8. While it true that each son has different personality traits, and, in fact, does not resemble his siblings, they get along nicely.
