Continued Toll Lane Closures at Woodbury for E-ZPass Construction

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that weather and adjustments to the construction schedule will delay the opening of Highway Speed E-ZPass lanes at the Woodbury Toll Plaza.

While initially anticipated to open on May 2, 2010, the new Highway Speed E-ZPass lanes are now tentatively scheduled to open the week of May 10, 2010, weather permitting.

During this phase of construction, five (5) lanes at the Woodbury Toll Plaza are being demolished to allow for the implementation of four (4) Highway Speed E-ZPass lanes (two northbound/two southbound).

Throughout construction, three (3) existing toll lanes have remained open northbound. Additionally, the northbound toll lane to the far right of the Woodbury Toll Plaza is available to northbound traffic, as needed, during peak traffic periods.

During this same period, six (6) lanes have remained open southbound.

At the conclusion of the construction, Highway Speed E-ZPass will be fully operational and available to both passenger and commercial customers. The remaining milling and paving work, striping, guide rail installation, drainage work and landscaping will then be completed. The overall project is slated for completion this Summer.

  1. Anyone who wants to avoid the area can take the Palisades to Route 6 west, which leads directly into Route 17 just after the tolls.
