NYPD Release: Traffic Advisory For New Yorkers On Upcoming Presidential Visit


The New York City Police Department and the Department of Transportation are reminding New Yorkers to expect extensive traffic delays in and around East 57th Street and Fifth Avenue during the President’s upcoming visit on Monday, August 14 through Wednesday, August 16. Increased congestion is anticipated and New Yorkers are encouraged to utilize public transportation whenever possible.

The NYPD and United States Secret Service will have a layered security approach that will include checkpoints for vehicle inspections in and around 57th Street and Fifth Avenue. Those traveling in the area should make arrangements for additional travel time. Fifth Avenue will remain open, but will be subject to temporary closures and restrictions during the President’s visit. Again, New Yorkers are encouraged to utilize public transportation and avoid the area whenever possible.

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning around 12:00 p.m. on Monday August 14 and remain closed for the duration of the President’s visit:
· 58th Street between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue

· 56th Street between Sixth Avenue to Madison Avenue

· 55th Street from Fifth Avenue to Madison Avenue
