Will Police Question HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Over Peleg Hafganos?

According to a Channel 2 report, Israel Police attribute the violent Peleg protests to HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita, with Channel 2 News reporting police sources saying if there is concrete evidence linking Rav Auerbach to illegal activities, including shutting down roads, he will be summoned for questioning like any regular citizen.

The report adds that at present, there is no such evidence that indicates the elderly gadol will be summoned to police for questioning.

Police in the past have released similar trial balloons, pertaining to HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L, signaling he would be questioned. It was quickly realized police would never dare to summon him and at worst, senior officers would be sent to Rav Ovadia to question him at home. The chareidi media feels the same is true here, and police “would not be foolish enough to summon Rav Auerbach for such a move would led to even more violence in the streets”.

  1. The paskunyak don’t listen to the gedolim, so what’s the point of questioning him? It would be like if someone told the guy sitting next to him in shul how to cheat on taxes, that the IRS should interview the shul rov. Makes no sense.

  2. Is the Rav still too ill to travel to the police HQ for questioning? It was reported here several days ago that he was being hospitalized after not feeling well.

  3. I suggest arresting anyone who blocks streets. Want to protest? Do it peacefully on the sidewalk.

If you refuse to get out of the street then send them to jail for creating public discord and havoc. There is a law against jay walking even in Israel. These behamot belong in jail and anyone who instructs them to break the law should get a double sentence!
