PHOTOS: Israel Police Light Chanukah Candles With Children From Zichron Menachem

In keeping what has become annual tradition, representatives of Israel Police lit Chanukah candles with children from Zichron Menachem, children who R”L are fighting a difficult illness.

This year, on the second night of Chanukah, Jerusalem Police Chief Yoram Levi represented the department. He lit with 9-year-old Roi, who is one of the children assisted by the NGO. Levi gave Roi a lapel pin of the Jerusalem Police District.

Levi said, “Every time we meet you and come to this special and moving home that gives life and hope – alongside the complex and challenging responsibilities and tasks on the shoulders of the Jerusalem policemen, at these moments we are the ones who emerge strengthened and excited.

It is a great honor for us to be the policemen who defend Jerusalem, to be here and to accompany you throughout the year and today.

We will continue to do everything in order to maintain the security of the residents living in Jerusalem and in our special state, and on this mission, there are quite a few policemen who paid with their lives and policemen who were injured.

We thank you for the hope and light that you are spreading, you are the true heroes, the power and the inspiration. ”

The director-general of the organization, Chaim Erenthal, noted that the district commander has accompanied the association for many years since its establishment.

“The giving of the Jerusalem Police is tremendous, we feel embraced and we receive from you a force that you support, accompany and strengthen us.”

Since its establishment in the early 1990s, the Jerusalem district has been adopting the children of “Zichron Menachem”. The adoption is expressed in the hospitality of the children in the various units of the district (the David region, the Moriah area, the Tzion area, traffic unit, the cavalry unit, etc.), celebrating holidays and events in common, bar mitzvah ceremonies and entering first grade, escorting police motorcycles to a child celebrating a birthday, or one requiring emergency treatment abroad in the police ambulance from the hospital to Ben-Gurion Airport, accompanied by visits to the Kosel and more.
