Violence Follows Attempted Arrests In Bnei Brak Following Shouts Of ‘Chardak’

There was a violent response on Damesek Eliezer Street in Bnei Brak on Monday night, the eve of 1 Teves, near Yeshivas Slonim, after the attempted arrest of a talmid who shouted ‘chardak’ as police passed the area.

Police tried to arrest the talmid, but he fled into the crowd and dozens of talmidim began shouting ‘gevald’ and blocking police from making the arrest.

Police called for backup units, and dozens of reinforcements arrived, leading to two arrests on suspicion of striking police and attempting to shut done the street to vehicular traffic.

An 18-year-old who was arrested was arraigned in the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court on Tuesday and released with restrictions including house arrest.

  1. Pretty sad when Israeli police act in the same pathetic manner as did the British Police did during the British Mandate. This incident should never have happened. The boy’s arrogance should have been overlooked. The only reason arrests were made were due to these cops trying to save face. In my opinion their superior should reprimand them for causing an unnecessary incident. And yes, the boy’s Rabbanim should rebuke him as well.
