Amsellem Insists Party is Registered and Legal

Channel 10 News’ Raviv Drucker reported that the Am Shalem Party of Rav Chaim Amsellem cannot run in the upcoming general elections because the party was not registered with the Central Election Committee as required. The report cited that Amsellem failed to register his part as required by law and it is therefore disqualified.

Amsellem did not take too long to respond, announcing that if need be, he will use the Achiezer Party name to run, for the latter is indeed registered. He referred to the party that was established a number of years ago by Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu ZT”L.

A statement released by Am Shalem added “In light of the rumors being spread by interested parties, apparently Shas, that Am Shalem was not properly registered and therefore accepting donations illegally, Am Shalem operates on its official party name, Achiezer, which is registered”.

“Regarding donations to Am Shalem, no monies have been accepted in contradiction to the law as the party operates under the watchful eye of attorney Dr. Aviad Cohen. All party activities to date have been funded by Rabbi Amsellem privately.”
