Triple-Fatal Crash In “Floyd Bennett Field” Airstrip, Where Brooklyn Teens Regularly Joyride

An 11-year-old boy and two teenagers were killed after two cars collided on a decommissioned airfield in Brooklyn, police said Sunday.

A police official told The New York Times the teens had been spinning out, “doing doughnuts,” at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn Saturday night before they crashed. First responders found two badly damaged cars and bodies on the ground, Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Ramdayal said.

Four teens remained hospitalized Sunday, one critically injured.

The young people who died were identified as Daniel Sidgiyayeva, 11, Margarita Sidgiyayeva, 18, and Emil Badalov, 16, all of Homecrest in southeast Brooklyn. They were riding in a 2014 Kia Forte. Another passenger in the car, age 17, was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday, police said.

Three teenagers in the other car, a 2020 Toyota Camry, were hospitalized in stable condition on Sunday.

The deserted runway is in Marine Park, Brooklyn, near Jamaica Bay, and is part of the National Park System. It has attracted drag races in the past but it was unclear if the cars had been drag racing Saturday evening.
