2 Workers Killed In Ashdod Factory Gas Explosion


Two people were killed on Tuesday morning after a gas explosion took place inside a metal recycling factory in Ashdod. Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and searches were conducted throughout the factory for injured workers.

Four workers were injured in the incident. Two of the workers were found without signs of life and were pronounced dead at the scene. Another two workers were injured, one was in serious condition and was treated at the scene by United Hatzalah volunteers and Magen David Adom ambulance teams before being transported to Assuta Hospital in the city. The other worker left the area under his own power.

United Hatzalah volunteer Maxim Kolga who was one of the first responders at the scene relayed: “When I arrived at the factory I saw three injured people lying on the ground. Together with other EMS personnel, I treated one man who was in serious condition at the scene. Sadly, the other two workers had no life signs and we were forced to pronounce their deaths at the scene.”
