New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Saturday night he shared the community’s outrage at the NY Post’s vile coverage of the Stark murder. Appearing on ‘Community Matter’ radio program with host Leon Goldenberg, Mayor de Blasio promised to work closely with the community and have a open ear to their concerns.

Commenting on the Stark murder, Mr. de Blasio said, “It’s a tragedy what happened to Mr. Stark. My heart goes out for the family and they are in my thoughts and prayers. I know that for many people in the Jewish community this was a very painful moment and I want I say: We are going to get to the bottom of it. We will find who did this to him and who robbed children of a father and a wife of a husband. And we are going to be very, very focused. The NYPD are making this a high priority, to solve this once and for all.”

Mayor de Blasio, a tabloid victim himself, also criticized the NY Post’s Sunday cover of Mr. Stark.

“I had seen many headlines that was not appropriate. This was particularly inappropriate,” the mayor said. “the family was in pain, the community was in pain and that headline was inappropriate, unfair and hurtful.”

“There’s really no place for that kind of things in this city. I know a lot of people were outraged, and I share their outrage,” Mr. de Blasio added.

In his previous radio interview with Leon Goldenberg, 3 days before the Nov. 5th election for mayor, Mr. de Blasio expressed his disgust of the Hasidic/Orthodox Jewish community not always being recipients of the same tolerance that’s demanded of other groups and minorities. ”There’s no question that sometimes in the mainstream media, you’ve seen people misunderstand the community and not respect,” Mr. de Blasio said. “In my experience, I am aware of the fact that there’s some real bias out there. It is not acceptable to me.”

  1. To little and too late.
If this occurred in a “minority” community, he would have commented on the same day. Now it is time for full disclosure…Leon Goldenberg is one of DelBlasio’s main supporters in the Jewish community. It is obvious that HE told him what to say. Otherwise, based on PAST PERFORMANCE, there would have continued to be SILENCE. Let’s face it…where it counts…DELBLASIO only speaks about HIS AGENDA.
