A serious accident occurred on Monday morning near Uman in Ukraine when a shuttle bus transporting Israelis to the tzion of Rav Nachman of Breslov collided with a private car.

Hatzalah paramedics quickly arrived at the scene and administered emergency medical aid to the victims. The death of the local driver was pronounced at the scene. An Israeli man of about 50 was moderately injured and three Israeli female passengers were lightly injured.

According to a Kikar H’Shabbat report, the injured man is a known Breslover askan.

Hatzalah paramedic Naftali Rabinowitz said: “It was an accident involving two vehicles – a shuttle bus transporting Israelis to the tzion of Rav Nachman of Breslov and a private vehicle with a Ukrainian driver. Unfortunately, the local driver was pronounced dead at the scene.”

“We provided aid to a 50-year-old Israeli wounded man in moderate condition and to three Israeli female passengers from the bus who were lightly injured. The head of the Uman Hatzalah branch, Matityahu Shapira, came to the hospital to accompany the victims and ensure they were provided the proper medical aid and serve as a translator.”

  1. When will they learn….STAY HOME!!! All these stories of injuries, accidental deaths, attacks by local anti-semites, forced payments of bribes etc. At some point they are inflicting this on themselves.

  2. GHD, accidents happen at home too. Israel isn’t all that much safer than the Ukraine. And they’re traveling for a mitzvah. Which should mean they’re protected, but unfortunately in this world of Hester Panim that doesn’t always work.

  3. Are there any lack of kevarim of gedolim in Eretz Yisrael?? There’s no good reason to make this risky pilgrimage to Uman. Stay home, stay safe, don’t give your precious money to crooks.

  4. Yes, accidents happen everywhere but all the negative stuff going on in Ukraine doesn’t appear to warrant these deliberate efforts to put themselves and others at risk and to enrich the local anti-semites.

  5. One person mentioned that they were doing a Mitzva and should be protected.
First of all: This is a war zone.
Hashem will protect you if you do a Mitzva at home or near your house or near your school in a peaceful area.
Ukraine and Russia are now in a wild war-there are no rules there-It is a real jungle- No one cares about international rules about war games.
Going there is like putting your head into a lion’s mouth.
Hashem never promised to protect you in a wild crazy war zone.
I will bet you on this Halacha 100 million dollars.

  6. There is no lack of kevarim in Eretz Yisroel, but those are not THEIR REBBE’s kever.

The Torah tells us that shlichei mitzvah are not harmed, neither on their way to do the mitzvah nor on their return. And the gemara tells us that Acher went off because he saw an event that seemed to contradict this. The clear lesson is that we must trust that the rule is true, and we should know in advance that sometimes we will see it fail but we must continue to trust in it anyway, and trust that Hashem knows what He’s doing.
