NYPD Officer Injured By Hit-Run ATV Driver In Brooklyn


nypd4A New York City police officer was injured when he was struck by an all-terrain vehicle driven by a man who fled the scene in Brooklyn and was later arrested.

It happened on South Conduit Avenue near Pitikin Avenue at about 3:30 Sunday.

Police say the officer and his partner observed 23-year-old Christian Oliviere, of Brooklyn, recklessly driving an ATV, weaving in and out of traffic and riding on the sidewalk.

When the officers attempted to stop him, the driver sped away and struck one of the officers, dragging him about 190 feet before knocking him to the ground and running over his leg.

The officer was hospitalized in stable condition with extensive cuts and bruises, a broken vertebrae and a broken nose.

Oliviere was later found hiding in an auto body shop. He was arrested on charges of attempted murder of a police officer, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and other charges.

It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.
