MK Asher: Our Principles are Not for Sale

YW-BBMI-007.jpgA week following the chareidi tzibur’s defeat in the Jerusalem Chief Rabbinate election, MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Yaakov Asher boasts “we did not sell out our principles”.

The winners in the race were the rabbonim backed by the Bayit Yehudi party and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, Rabbi Aryeh Stern Shlita and Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita. Defeated were the rabbonim on the chareidi ticket; Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu Shlita and Rabbi Moshe Chaim Lau Shlita.

Asher announced that the chareidim won by their adhering to the word of Gedolei Torah Shlita.

  1. The reason your priciples were not for sale this time is because you have already sold them.

If you won, it would have been the zchus of adhering to gedolei Yisrael, shlita.

  2. If one’s principles are not for sale, why would one even consider becoming a government rabbi whose salary is paid by an anti-Torah government?

  3. #4. Very true. Also, why does the Yeshivas take money from this “anti-Torah” government? Why do the people themselves take money? It’s only anti-Torah when they don’t get 100% of what is demanded. There is no consideration or appreciation of what is done and no concern for the needs of other people or the country as a whole.

  4. I’m not involved in Israeli politics, religious or otherwise but after reading all these posts about how the various communities undermine and back stab each other it becomes obvious that all involved are “Tosh” Chasidim.

    Allis far meer in tosh…….

(No disrespect meant for Tosh Chasidim)
