Litzman: Passage of Giyur Bill ‘A Slap in the Face to the Concept of a Jewish State’

litzMK (Yahadut Hatorah) Yaakov Litzman announced the cabinet decision to pass the Giyur Bill “Is a slap in the face to the concept of a Jewish state”. Litzman directed his anger primarily at the dati leumi Bayit Yehudi party, which he blames for the alarming deteriorating in the religious status of the nation by permitting the passage of laws that are contrary to the opinion of Gedolei Yisrael Shlita.

MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Uri Maklev calls the current government “one that is bad for the Jewish People”.

The only minister not to vote for the bill was Housing Minister Uri Ariel, who told Kol Chai Radio that the version passed is the best of the options that were available. The head of the Zomet Institute Rabbi Yisrael Rosen feels the chareidi opposition to the bill is not based in halacha, insisting the passage of the bill does not challenge halacha in any way.

Meaning, the previous version did challenge halacha but he was in favor of it anyway. So much for any credibility he’s had until now.

  2. Ever since its inception, the Zionist State of Israel has worked to marginalize and even deligitimize Torah and Halachah. This is just the latest step. It boggles my mind that the very person in charge of conversions in Israel would opine that the bill does not challenge Halachah. Somehow, we have failed, and thus the center of Torah in the world has sunken.

  3. To YeshivaWorldNews and other “religious” outlets:you must bear culpability for what tragically is being played out in Israel, and is/will the face of our people.

This is what ensues when one wishes to ‘remain neutral’ between a raging fire vs. the fire dept.

For years you preferred and tried to remain high flying ‘neutralist’,between Dati vs. Charedi.

Rather than follow the “boring” “mindless” party line, you tolerated spoonfeeing repackaged insidious anti charedi “news”, causing
the religious defenses to be slowly eroded from within

(Just to be fair YWN :you have gotten a little better over the past year. Sadly, somewhat too little too late)

  4. “Rabbi Yisrael Rosen feels the chareidi opposition to the bill is not based in halacha”

Anyone who reads this clowns weekly pamphlet, will understand

When the Gedolim banned reform and conservative in 1956, this crowd also claimed is was “not based in halacha”

Everthing that was built up ,is slowly being torn down
