NYPD: Man Who Grabbed Officer’s Gun Is Shot By Police

csnPolice in New York City say a man has been critically wounded by officers after he climbed into an unmarked police car and took a sergeant’s gun.

They say the 1:45 a.m. shooting occurred Sunday after the 25-year-old man entered the backseat of the unmarked police car stopped at a red light in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush neighborhood.

They say a gunshot went off in the car when the man struggled with a police sergeant sitting in the front passenger seat. He then took the gun and ran from the car.

Nearby officers told the man to drop the gun. That’s when police say the man shot at them.

He was struck in the torso and leg and taken to a hospital. He’s listed in critical but stable condition.
