Hikind And Community Leaders Welcome Speaker Heastie To Boro Park

hiA huge crowd of community members were on hand today as Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) hosted Assemblyman Carl Heastie, the new Speaker of the New York Assembly. The meet-and-greet took place at the Avenue Plaza Hotel in Boro Park.

A wide array of askonim, representing every major organization serving our community, were in attendance and eager to meet Speaker Heastie. With this year’s legislative session already well underway, there were numerous issues that the Boro Park and Flatbush communities are eager to see addressed, among them Education Investment Tax Credits, funding for CAP (the Comprehensive Attendance Policy), increased funding for security at private and parochial schools, and additional funding for infertility. Assemblyman Hikind has maintained a strong voice in Albany fighting for all of these issues.

“I was delighted to bring Speaker Heastie to our community,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “I have known the Speaker as a respected colleague for years and look forward to working with him in his new capacity as our Speaker. We had a very warm gathering today in Boro Park where the Speaker answered questions from the many people who had come to welcome him. I am certain we will all benefit from his leadership in Albany.”
