Rumors are spreading that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu may be considering forming a national unity coalition government following elections. One of the persons close to the prime minister, MK Ze’ev Elkin explains he feels there is a 50/50 chance the prime minister will opt for a national unity government. This, he explains would include rotating the premiership with Labor party leader Yitzchak Herzog.
Walla News on Wednesday, 6 Adar quotes a senior Likud official saying Netanyahu will lean to a national unity coalition over forming a narrow right-wing coalition, which would present difficulties in facing off against pressures from Europe and deflecting Obama policies.
The prime minister denies the accuracy of the reports, stating emphatically “I will not form a national unity coalition government with Yitzchak Herzog and Tzipi Livni. This will not happen due to the deep deep ideological gap between us”.
The prime minister added “I am for preserving a united Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty. They are opposed. I am opposed to land concession in Yehuda and Shomron for at the end, all those areas will become a radical Islamic terror base. They are in favor. I stand steadfast against international pressures regarding Israeli’s security interests. They just want to capitulate, to give in and pullback.
“There will not be a unity government. It will not happen. I want to build a broad nationalist government that will continue to remain steadfast and strong with the natural partners headed by Bayit Yehudi. There will be a government that sternly defends Israel’s security interests against our enemies, continues developing Israel’s economy, and continues leading Israel with courage and responsibility”.
The prime minister concluded “Therefore, the choice in the upcoming elections is between a strong broad right-wing government headed by me or between a left-wing government headed by Herzog and Livni. These are the choices. There are no other alternatives”.

1. Together they are unlikely to have even 50 seats, and might be able to manage to Kulanu and Yesh Atid, but it would be tight.
2. Netanyahu isn’t about to share power with a Likud drop out (and former ex-princeling). And Likud can form a Right-Hareidi government and maybe spreading rumors about Labor in order to force Bayit Yehudi, Yachad, Kulanu and Yisrael Beiteinu to be less greedy in terms of patronage.
3. Both Labor and Likud will be greedy for patronage. Either would be more open to recruit Shas and Yahadut ha-Torah who can be bought with an end to criminal sanctions for draft resistance, rather than with patronage.
I am not attending Netanyahu Speech in Washington D.C. what’s the big deal? it makes no difference whatsoever to any of us, what will make a difference is, when the Yidden in Israel will STOP digging the Jewish graves, in Beit Shemesh and in Geula @ Merom Yerushalayim etc. First lets make Hashem Happy…
