Kahlon Apologizes to the US Ambassador Over Oren’s WSJ Column

obbiAfter an opinion piece written by former Israeli Ambassador to Washington, DC, MK (Kulanu) Dr. Michael Oren was published in the Wall Street Journal, party leader Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon apologized to the US Ambassador to Israel, Channel 2 News reported.

Kahlon on Wednesday night the eve of 2 Rosh Chodesh Tammuz sent a letter to the Ambassador Shapira apologizing on behalf of his party subordinate. In his article Oren explains that while both Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama made mistakes that led to the strained relations between the countries, only Obama made them intentionally.

US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro responded to the former ambassador, MK Oren following his harsh criticism of the US president. “He is my friend but without a doubt I do not agree with what he wrote” Shapiro stated in a Thursday morning interview with Razi Barkai on Galei Tzahal (Army Radio).

He added that today Oren is in a different post as a Member of Knesset, as well as an author seeking to sell books. “At times, an ambassador has limited vision regarding conversations taking place between leaders and his description does not reflect the true reality. His version is imaginary”.
