Brooklyn Boro President Calls On Brooklyn Congressional Delegation To Reject Iran Deal

adamsThe following statement by Brooklyn Boro President Eric Adams was given to YWN:

As a 22-year veteran of the NYPD, I understand that public safety is the fundamental foundation on which our city is built and is able to endure. Our utmost concern as a city must always be the safety and security of every New Yorker. The threat of terrorism is not a far-fetched hypothetical in New York City; ask anyone who lived through the horrors of 9/11. We cannot be too vigilant in our defense against future attacks, which have been and continue to be plotted against sites in the five boroughs, including Brooklyn.

I support diplomatic efforts to achieve a nuclear deal with Iran that guarantees us and our allies greater safety, but unfortunately that is not the deal which is currently in front of Congress. The goal cannot be to merely delay Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, but to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. As New Yorkers, we know all too well what is at stake.

I ask the members of Brooklyn’s Congressional delegation to reject or reconsider their support of this deal. It is my hope that, presenting a strong and unified front, our borough can be a needed catalyst for our nation to return to the negotiating table and fight for a tougher deal.

  1. Bravo for Boro President Eric Adams! It took some courage given the Democratic President is obviously strongly for this deal.
