NEW BAN: Bnei Brak Sephardi Talmid Torah Prohibits Dressing Like R’ Ovadia on Purim [PHOTOS]

A Bnei Brak Sephardi talmid torah that operates under HaGaon HaRav Yehuda Addis has informed children they may not dress as Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L on Purim, Kol Chai Radio reports, quoting parents of the boys in the talmid torah.

A probe of the report shows there is indeed a ban in place, prohibiting the little ones dressing up as the late gadol hador in addition to the prohibition of dressing as a policeman or IDF soldier.

The Yeshiva rejects the criticism from parents, insisting this is not done chas v’sholom to belittle the gadlus of Rav Ovadia chas v’sholom, but it is the same as the Sephardi talmidei torah not having children dress as Rav Shach, nothing more, seeking to inculcate a certain hashkafa into the neshomos of the little ones.

  1. Rather let them dress up as our godila hdor & act like them then getting dressed up as things that dont pash for a ben torah

  2. The clothing involved are the traditional garments worn by the Sefardi Chief Rabbi, whose office actually predates the medinah. So are they say itgs disrespectful to wear the uniform of the Chacham Bashi?

Or are they objecting to trying to look like R. Yosef (perhaps with medically required sunglasses)?
