Britain Criticizes John Kerry Over Israel Comments; Edges Closer To Trump

kerBritain scolded US Secretary of State John Kerry for describing the Israeli government as the most right-wing in Israeli history, a move that aligns Prime Minister Theresa May more closely with President-elect Donald Trump.

After US President Barack Obama enraged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by refusing to veto a UN Security Council resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlement building, Kerry’s public rebuke of Israel has unsettled some allies such as Britain.

While Britain voted for the UN resolution that so angered Netanyahu and says that settlementsare illegal, a spokesman for May said that it was clear that the settlements were far from the only problem in the conflict.

In an unusually sharp public rebuke of Obama’s top diplomat, May’s spokesman said that Israel had coped for too long with the threat of terrorism and that focusing only on the settlements was not the best way to achieve peace between Jew and Arab.

London also took particular issue with Kerry’s description of Netanyahu’s coalition as “the most right-wing in Israeli history, with an agenda driven by its most extreme elements.”

“We do not believe that it is appropriate to attack the composition of the democratically-elected government of an ally,” May’s spokesman said when asked about Kerry 70-minute speech in the State Department’s auditorium.

The US State Department said it was surprised by the remarks from May’s office and said Kerry’s comments were in line with Britain’s own policy. It pointedly also thanked Germany, France, Canada, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates for support.

  1. Britain voted against and its prime minister seems to want to soften the blow.
There may be something going on behind the scenes. No other head-of-state from the anti countries said anything like her.

  2. It’s true they voted against (bizarre if you ask me) but in the UK itself there is a very influential Pro Israel/pro Jewish element particularly in the ruling conservative party. The same cannot be said for the liberal democrats and Labour parties. It’ll be very interesting how they conduct themselves once Trump is in power as to whether they will be happy to align themselves with his views.

  3. obumma speaking through his puppet [dummy] have try to out do what they were doing; and they slipped in the mud and fell into dr..h. obumma is so in love with himself that there is no space in his mind for anything else. good ridiance obumma, hilary, kerry, moochelle, reid. Too bad you left behind piglosi, boxers, and other extreme left crazy

  4. Let’s take a look for just a moment at that list of “pointedly thanked” supporters:
Out of nine, six are Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and Qatar – major state-sponsors of international terrorism.
Of the three Western countries, two have such huge Muslim populations (Germany thanks to Frau Angela’s deranged immigration policies) they can’t afford to antagonize them by voting against an anti-Israel UN resolution when the US is abstaining.
One wouldn’t expect any country to veto an anti-Israel resolution covertly sponsored by the US. But good for Great Britain for calling out Kerry’s speech for the blatantly biased piece of nonsense that it was.
