Traveler Detained With A Pistol In His Carryon At Ben-Gurion Airport

A 60-year-old Israeli man who was traveling abroad was detained at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Sunday night the eve of 22 Adar 5777 after x-ray revealed a handgun and ammunition in his carryon. The detection of the pistol led to emergency procedures being implemented until it was determined this was not part of a larger security breach.

The x-ray revealed the bag contained the weapon, ammunition, magazine, as well as sharp tools; all forbidden to bring on a plane. It is highlighted that even one with a carry permit may not bring a handgun inside the airport terminal.

After the man was questioned and it was determined that there was no security incident, police confiscated the weapon and other forbidden items and the man was permitted to fly to London.
