Major David Zahar Identified as Reservist Pilot Killed in Chopper Accident


Major David (Dudi) Zohar z”l, 43, from Haifa, has been identified as the reserve duty officer killed on Monday night when his Apache helicopter crashed at 9:01PM in a southern air force base during a training session. Zohar reported a malfunction on the chopper and the crash occurred moments later.

The co-pilot was critically injured and flown to the trauma unit at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva.

Israel Air Force Commander Major-General Amir Eshel has ordered an investigation into the crash.

The levaya is set to begin at 6:30PM today, Tuesday, 16 Menachem Av, in the Haifa Military Cemetery. The family reports he was an organ donor and as such, his organs were harvested to save and assist others.
