Machane Tzioni Leader Gabbai Responds To Deri’s Statements On Shabbos Law

Machane Tzioni party chairman Avi Gabbai, commented on Thursday, 24, Teves, on comments made earlier by Interior Minister Aryeh Deri in an interview with Yediot Achronot. Deri stated he was not the driving force behind the law to prevent businesses from operating on Shabbos, nor does he plan to enforce the law, which he feels cannot be enforced. He told the newspaper he has always been opposed

“The coalition deals only with politics, marking territories and getting newspaper headlines, commented Gabbai, who added, “Aryeh Deri said today that he does not intend to enforce the supermarket law. Netanyahu says that the Recommendations Law does not apply to him. Lieberman is promoting a death sentence bill contrary to the position of the security bodies, and Bennet legislates that a change in Jerusalem requires 80 MKs but changing a law only requires 61”.

“Do you understand” exclaimed Gabbai – it is only politics and headlines!”

He feels the time could have been better spent moving ahead plans to improve assistance for disable Israelis or to amend the law to permit the state to hold the bodies of dead terrorists as a negotiating trump card. He used his tweeter account to aske Deri, “What for, just to create division?”
