Trump Administration Eliminates The “Occupied” West Bank Line

In what is only a partial victory for Israel but still a major turn in events, the Trump administration State Department is ceasing to use the term “occupied” West Bank in its reference to Yehuda and Shomron. This became evident in the latest State Department report addressing human rights violations around the world, released last week.

Replacing “Israel and the Occupied Territories,” are “Israel, Golan Heights, West Bank and Gaza.”

While it is nonetheless unfortunate that Israel is still referred to as the ‘West Bank’ of Jordan, the change is most welcome, one adding a measure of historical accuracy to American reference to the liberated areas of Yehuda and Shomron, which B’chasdei Hashem were released from Jordanian occupation in the June 1967 Six Day War.

The move was prompted by US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who approached the State Department to make the change.

Once again, the Trump administration is working to show its true commitment to the State of Israel following difficult years that accompanied the previous administrations of former President Barak Obama.

  1. To Anon: Getting one thing right tells us nothing about the status of the swamp. See, e.g., the stories about the schnorring EPA administrator, Pruitt, or the legal troubles of the president’s fixer/lawyer.

  2. The swamp at state at least has been drained. All these “career diplomats” that have been let go or forced to “spend more time with their families” represent the deep state that no matter who the president and Secretary of State was they still did whatever they wanted. Otherwise known as “weebees”. We be here when you come we be here when you leave. Those guys are all gone
