Interior Minister Deri Prohibits Senior Muslim Official From Leaving Israel

Interior Minister Aryeh Deri on Tuesday, 16 Iyar, banned the departure from Israel of Akrama Saadi, head of the Supreme Muslim Council in Jerusalem.

Minister Deri decided to do so in light of the recommendation of security officials who presented him with information that Sabri is exploiting his exits to attend conferences abroad aimed at harming state security.

Sabri also uses incitement and subversion against the state and has a long connection to terror activists in Israel and abroad.

According to security sources, Sabri has a close connection to Hamas operatives in Turkey and various countries around the world and is involved in ongoing incitement against Israel.

Deri stated, “From the information presented to me, there is real concern that the departure of Saadi from Israel will endanger the security of the state. As I recently prevented the entry of boycott activists into Israel, I prevent the exit of people who, if they leave the country, will act against the state”.
